Subsea Reverse Osmosis System for Fresh Water Production
The solution forms part of an innovative approach to sustainable water production, where seawater is processed subsea using reverse osmosis technology before the produced fresh water is transported to shore or directly to end users. By utilizing the natural hydrostatic pressure available at depth, the system can reduce energy consumption compared to conventional desalination plants while minimizing the footprint of onshore infrastructure.
For Kverneland Aqua, the project required the delivery of equipment intended for long-term operation in a harsh marine environment, where reliability, material selection, documentation, and manufacturing quality are critical to overall system performance.
